Wedding Recap: A Traditional Hall, Full-Day Coverage
Ten-hour coverage of a traditional ceremony with a full band, three costume changes and drone work over the venue. Notes from a long day.
Scope
Full-day coverage from morning preparations through the reception. Two photographers, a second-camera videographer and drone work for the venue reveal and the ceremony's aerial establishing shot. Signature package territory — the exact reason we built that tier.
Lighting the hall
Traditional halls are almost always harder than outdoor ceremonies. Mixed tungsten, ambient windows and coloured up-lights fight each other constantly. We rely on a fast prime — usually the 35mm f/1.4 — and stay off flash whenever the ambient is workable, so the room reads the way it looked to the guests.
The drone pass
One rehearsed pass over the venue during the ceremony, from the entrance across the roofline to the courtyard. Rehearsed because a drone that's still figuring out its line during the vows is a drone that produces an unusable shot. Fly the path the day before if the venue allows.
Delivery
Highlight film in three weeks, full galleries in four, feature-length film in eight. Wedding films are meant to be watched the second year, not the first — build the edit so it holds up after the memory has done its own softening.
